Spring

April/May 2022

Time seems to have been flying by...

Here I am with members of the Porch team on a windy lunchtime in April. They have done a great job and all being well, the Porch will open up to members again next week. Well done Guy and the team!

Here is Jean with one of our guests on the Good Friday Walk of Witness near East Oxford Primary School. And here she is again with Margreet Armitstead, our Companion and Vicar of Littlemore parish after a celebration of the Eucharist. John Hammock, another Companion, was over here from the USA in May and it was good to see him looking so well, having suffered some health issues and Covid.

I had a wonderful retreat in Llandudno in May and as you can see, managed to take a selfie by the sea.

Three of us were delighted to attend the Ascension Day Eucharist at Exeter College through the kindness of the Chaplain, The Reverend Dr Andrew Allen. Due to Covid, we had not been there for a couple of years, so that made the evening even more special!

Winter - Spring

Jan/Feb/March 2022

Lovely for the Porch team members to gather with a couple of their Trustees and ours to have a meal together and just enjoy the company! We met at a local restaurant in January after the team had finished serving lunches at the Porch.

We have been delighted to welcome back Margreet Armitstead, Vicar of Littlemore and one of our Companions. She has been very busy with the project to make the church friendly for community use and to honour Cardinal John Henry Newman. We were sorry to say goodbye to our garden volunteer Ann, pictured here with our gardeners Nick and Lisa. She has been a regular visitor, coming in all sorts of weathers and we will miss her! All good wishes, Ann, as you move to the Scottish islands.

In March, we welcomed our Bishop Visitor Richard Atkinson who celebrated for us and stayed to lunch. I joined members of our parish and local churches one Saturday in March to help with the annual Ox clean. Thanks to all who give their time to keep our locality tidy – and safe!

The Feast of the Annunciation was on Friday March 25th and Helen Mary very much wanted to join us for the Eucharist at St Alban’s church that morning. Here she is after the service with Frances.
